August 10, 2026
Chisum iSD is pleased to announce that students will continue to receive meals at no cost for the 26-27 school year. Each student may have one reimbursable breakfast and one reimbursable lunch each school day.
What is a reimbursable meal? The USDA reimburses the school for all student meals which meet their requirements.
- Reimbursable breakfast: At least three items. One item must be a full servingof fruit/juice and/or vegetables. The minimum serving is ½ cup. Fruit-flavored yogurt is not a fruit.
- Reimbursable lunch: At least three components. One component must be a full serving of fruit/juice and/or vegetables. The minimum serving is ½ cup. Components are: Whole grains, proteins, vegetables, fruits, fluid milk. Students are not required to take milk.
Students are not required to eat items on their trays. Unopened items may go to the “Share Table” to be taken by other students. A variety of vegetables and fruits are offered at each meal. This includes fresh and cooked items. Prepackaged dried fruits are also available.
Breaded chicken is available every day at Elementary School and most days at High and Middle Schools. A selection of cereals and cold breakfast items are offered daily along with hot items.
Your help is appreciated in explaining to your child that a fruit and/or vegetable is required.
