Great news! Roxton community groups and organizations are holding public meetings once again. Restland Cemetery, Inc., held its annual share holders meeting on Sunday, May 2, in the pavilion at the J.T. and Mildred Landers Park. Due to the pandemic, the meeting was not held in 2019. President Crystal Duke called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 2019 annual meeting were read and approved; the treasurer’s report was approved. Election of the Cemetery Board of Trustees followed. President Duke explained there would be two separate elections, one for those trustees whose terms expired in 2020 and another for those whose terms expired in 2021. Elected to the Board of Trustees were Vicky Bailey, Crystal Duke, Martha Duke, Judy Polson, Jill Risman, and Lou Carolyn Rutherford. The other three Trustees, whose positions expire in 2022, are Necie Birdsong, Beverly Burrow, and Brenda Gunter. Next year’s annual meeting will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Roxton United Methodist Church. The Cemetery Board of Trustees is always seeking new ideas. Please contact any member of the Trustees with your suggestions and concerns. If interested in purchasing a lot in Restland Cemetery, please contact a trustee. If you have any spaces you do not intend to use, we encourage you to donate them back to the cemetery. We are always in need of volunteers to help maintain our beautiful landmark. Let us hear from you.
